One-day recoveries surpass new COVID cases in Nagaland

Dimapur, January 31 (MExN): Single-day recoveries outnumbered new COVID-19 cases in Nagaland as 97 people were cured of the disease and 63 tested positive for the infection in the last 24 hours, according to the state’s daily health bulletin on Monday. 

The fresh cases raised the tally in the state to 34,404, while 31,415 people have recuperated from the disease so far, as per the bulletin which is issued daily by the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP).

Of the new cases, 57 were detected during self tests and random testing while three were detected among travellers and returnees. Frontline workers accounted for two fresh cases while one was from armed forces/security personnel. A total of 51 cases were from Dimapur district, seven from Kohima, and two from Mokokchung. Longleng, Mon and Tuensang districts reported one new case each.

The COVID-19 death toll also increased to 732 with one more fatality reported from Dimapur district on Monday.

The state now has 847 active cases out of which 692 are said to be asymptomatic, 139 have mild symptoms and 12 have moderate symptoms. Among those with severe symptoms, one patient is on oxygen while three others are said to be admitted in the Intensive Care Unit and are on ventilator support.
