Greeting in the upmost precious name of our lord and saviour Christ Jesus.
As a concern member of the Baptist church, I grab the opportunity to pen down some personal view concerning “clean election campaign”. The clean election movement started in the year 2012 was a bold decision and right movement initiated at the most crucial time in the history of our time when the Nagas society needed most. Every sensible Christians whoever poses ear, heart and mind must acknowledge and support the movement, because it’s a kind of war between good and evil. God has given the wisdom to distinguished the good and bad. Besides, he bestowed upon power to crush the devil and his evils deeds.
Rev. Dr. Z Keyho clearly confessed that it has taken upon Clean Election Campaign as it spiritual responsibility to be prophetic and stand against any form of evil and corrupt practices. So that holiness is not only talked in the church but lived in the public square in spirit and in deeds. I can only say only corrupt and glutton would altercate his statement. People must clearly know that Clean Election Movement is an apolitical campaign. NBCC is neither playing politics nor against election. As a religious body, it is the sole spiritual responsible duty of the church leader to fight against corruption and evil practices that is killing the very essence of our social, ethnics and moral value of Christian life. We can’t deny the fact that it was and will not be an easy task to pull down the menaced, as corruption has gone it roots so deep. The state machineries, Law and order, system and functioning of government had gone upside down and totally messed up. If NBCC and ACAUT were not borne at this crucial juncture, what would be our society be liked? I guess our society would be no less than Sodom and Gomorrah. The first movement was failed but not completely, it did a little effect in some part of our society. No doubt it was not an easy tasked and it will be impossible to wipe out corruption at one go. Because corruption has gone it roots, so deep it will take some time as it is easy to say but find difficult to practices. Still there is array of hope and confidence, as the saying goes on “Rome was not built in a day”
Some reasons caused for the failure.
1. Scores of leader preached inside the church but didn’t step out their feet in the movement. 2. Scores of leader failed to realised the important of clean election due to lack of vision. 3. A portion of the leader wanted to step out but the love of money kept prevented them to do so. 4. A portion of church leader favoured particular candidate. 5. The church leader didn’t able to convinced the members due to lack of faith and commitment. 6. The church leader did not dare to talked and convinced those high profile political agents, fearing that it might affect the income of the church. 7. The church leader lack spiritual warfare that they could not stand against corrupt and evil.
We were indeed in a battle, so we must clothe ourselves with appropriate armour. If we do then, we will be able to stand against the enemies schemes. We are not wrestling against flesh and blood, but we are actually fighting against powers and forces of evil.
To conclude I earnestly appeal the NBCC to conduct a one day church leadership seminar named lead like Jesus with root deeply grounded to follow and model the leadership of Jesus Christ which is based on the principle of Mathew 20:26. To see the nation of Nagaland came fully under Christ- centric leadership model. How to lead like the greatest leader of all time “Jesus”. All the churches council under NBCC may “conduct seminar” in each and every villages under their apex church body. NBCC need not go door to door campaign, if every church leader commit thyself, then clean election campaign would became a reality. The success and failure solely depend on each and every churches leader and workers.
N.B. the article reflects the view of the author confronted the reality and experiences of the present Naga society. Thanking you
