•- The Dimapur Municipal Corporation was formed for improving the condition of Dimapur town area and to provide basic amenities and needs for the Dimapur citizen for quality living. Besides, Dimapur being the gateway to Nagaland State , the role of Dimapur which is commercial hub is tremendous and the cost price of essential goods to other districts of Nagaland is determine by the price index of Dimapur.
Thinking the importance of Dimapur, after dissolution of elected members of DMC, the govt. of Nagaland appointed several Advisors to assist the Administrative head of DMC to streamline the functioning of DMC and to cater to the needs of the citizen of Dimapur and to beautify our wonderful commercial hub DIMAPUR. But, in the recent news item, it appears that the Advisors of DMC have revised the trade license fees and the business establishments refused to pay the enhanced fee structure and the matter is yet to be resolved. The revised license fee will indirectly hamper the common citizen whereby the traders will levy such enhanced taxes to the common citizen and ultimately, we the common citizen will bear the burden.
Then, what is the role of CEO, DMC who is the Administrative Head of DMC and answerable to Govt. of Nagaland for any lapses on the part of DMC. There, should be clear cut policy and the Government should spell out the exact role of CEO, DMC and its powers and functions including the Advisors of DMC. If, everyone works without proper guidelines, then there will be chaos and mismanagement and ultimately, the common citizen will bear the consequences. So, I as a citizen of Dimapur appeal to the Govt. of Nagaland to make public the powers & functioning of CEO, DMC and also the powers and role of Advisors of DMC for general public.
