Kiphire, November 14 (MExN): MLA and Chairperson of the Kiphire District Planning and Development Board T Yangseo Sangtam inaugurated the Open Theater at Zisaji Presidency College, Kiphire on November 13.
According to a press release from the College’s Media & Publicity Cell, the theater was constructed under College internal resources.
The MLA also attended the Cultural Fiesta 2021 programme as special guest during which he emphasized on the need to educate and inculcate culture in children. He also said that the beauty of the district was that it is inhabited by multiple tribes, making it very rich in culture. As such, he stressed on the need to preserve culture stating that it would ultimately become the district’s strength.
While delivering the welcome address, Dr Purna Chandra Mishra, Principal In-charge warmly welcomed the special guest as he is the first elected member from 60 Pungro-Kiphire A/C to visit the college and also an Alumni of the College. Stating that culture was mankind’s primary adaptive mechanism and a collective programming of mind, Dr Mishra said that every indigenous culture must be respected. He gave the credit of celebrating of Cultural Fiesta 2021 in the colleges of the state to the Minister of Higher Education and Tribal Affairs who implemented it with a greater objective.
