‘Our objective of education is to excel as duty-conscious citizens,’ says Gov

Kohima, October 27 (MExN): Governor of Assam and Nagaland Prof Jagdish Mukhi visited Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lerie Kohima and interacted with the students and the teachers on October 27. 

The Governor in his address stated that Kendriya Vidyalaya has emerged as one of the prestigious schools in the town.

He highlighted that this school which was established in 1999 and has now upgraded to Class-10 and it has blossomed into a premier institution, imparting quality education to student, stated a press release by the PRO Raj Bhavan.

He urged that an institution must contribute towards empowering the community. ‘Our objective about education is to excel as duty-conscious and decent citizens of India, keeping our Motherland in mind and the feeling of Nationalism up-front and to strive and contribute to the growth and development of our nation,’ he added.  

He reminded that as we celebrate the 75 Anniversary of India’s Independence, “we should be proud of our freedom and that now is the time to reflect on our achievements with pride and hope, knowing that despite the various challenges, setbacks and despair, the combined efforts of dedicated and selfless sacrifices of our brave countrymen and women, have laid the foundation on which we can build a brighter future for our country.”

Mukhi suggested the students to dream big in life and work hard to achieve the goal as there is no shortcut to success and to take guidance of parents and teachers in deciding the choices of their career ahead and develop the practice of building a strong will power.

He urged the teachers, do give their utmost best, for the growth and welfare of the school and most importantly for nurturing, moulding and upbringing the students, inspite of several shortcomings in terms of infrastructure, communication etc. 

Mukhi highlighted the significant aspects of the National Education Policy 2020 which is a progressive and future oriented initiative and addresses critical issues such as equitable access to Higher Education, bridging the gap between current and desirable learning outcomes with more impetus on cognitive skills, social and emotional skills. 

“More than the degrees, it is the knowledge that gives you immense intellectual satisfaction therefore it is the responsibility of the schools, whether government of private, to provide holistic education to students so that they can efficiently discharge their duties to themselves, to the community, to the nation as a whole and to humanity at large,” he stated. 

Earlier, a patriotic dance and traditional Naga folk dance was presented by students of KVS, Vidyalaya Management Committee member, Annie Sale delivered the welcome address, Principal (I/C) KV Kohima, Sh Santosh Kumar Roy gave a short speech, and DC (I/C) KVS RO Tinsukia proposed the vote of thanks.
