Dimapur, November 13 (MExN): The Padum Pukhuri Village Council (PPVC) has adopted a five-point resolution in an effort to make the society more congenial and friendly.
On Saturday, PVC Chairperson Aheto Yeputhomi and Secretary Yanpothung Yanthan informed that the resolutions were made after thorough deliberations during the council meeting on November 5 last and urged all concerned to cooperate towards its implementation.
As per the PVC press release, the council banned the selling of illegal liquor and all kinds of alcohol products within the village jurisdiction. It said that the Council would conduct surprise checking from time to time and impose penalties including seizure of illegal items if any shops found selling the banned items. It also resolved to impose disciplinary action against the land or building owner for their negligence, it added.
The PVC also resolved to ban all kinds of construction works on Sunday and cautioned that violators would be death with ‘necessary disciplinary action.’ The same direction was given out to all business establishments within the village jurisdiction except for pharmacies.
While acknowledging the Power department for taking initiative to curb power theft in the district, the PVC resolved to support the effort and keep monitor the same in the village. Stating that it would ensure that no one is using power illegally, it cautioned stringent action especially against saw mills, rice mills, and other factories against power theft. Install independent transformers immediately, it advised.
The Council also fixed the rate for pork and beef within the jurisdiction and informed pork would be sold at the following rates: Local (live weight) at Rs 260 per kg, dressed local pork at Rs 300 per kg and pork (supply) dressed meat at Rs 280 per kg. As for beef, a kilo of mixed meat was fixed at Rs 280, offal at Rs 250, and special at Rs 300. In this regard, it also informed that the council would conduct regular checking to ensure that stale meats are not sold and weights are not tampered.
In line with an earlier directive, the PVC resolved to continue using the fixed fares for autorickshaw according to specific stoppage points. The rates from the village main gate to St Mary Higher Secondary School point was fixed at Rs 10 per passenger; to Monday Bazaar point was Rs 20; and to Dobagaon gate at Rs 30 per passenger. The hire rates from the main gate till Monday Bazaar Point was Rs 50 and Rs 100 for Dobagaon gate, it informed.
