Kohima Lotha Students’ Union golden jubilee culminates

The two-day long golden jubilee celebration of Kohima Lotha Students’ Union (KLSU) under the theme “Charting common future” concluded at Naga Solidarity Park on January 29.
Theme speaker, Dr Abemo, Registrar, Nagaland University, HQ Lumami stressed on the need to focus on quality education to cope with the competitive world. “Paper degree is not going to help anymore,” he said and challenged the students to study hard and become a responsible citizen.
To become successful in life, one needs to be discipline, hardworking and there is no substitutions for that, Dr Abemo added.
Speaking at the main function, Y Patton, Deputy Chief Minister (Home and Roads & Bridges), urged upon the students to strive and continue to be the torchbearers and work for the welfare and uplift of the society. He also urged the students to study with seriousness and at the same time encouraged them to get through competitive exams
In this technology world, student must know the right usage of the gadgets and it should not hamper their studies, he said. Further, Patton called upon the students to develop work culture and excel in their academic career.
Earlier, dedication of monolith was done by Rev Mhathung Lotha, Missionary At-Large, KLBC. Rev Dr K Benry Lotha, senior pastor KLBC led a prayer for Lotha students. Lighting of jubilee flame was done by Kohima Lotha Hoho chairman Pankathung Lotha.
Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) General Secretary Supuni Ng Philo and Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) president Ashanthung Humtsoe also shared greetings. Welcome address was delivered by Nchumthung Kikon, convener steering committee while KLCSU President Lirhonthung E. Kithan delivered presidential address. KLSU former presidents Benri Ezung and Y Vandanshan Lotha also spoke at the programme.
Zuchobeni Tungoe, singer & song writer, Miss Dimapur 2019 and VLCC Femina Miss India Nagaland 2020 also presented a special number. Vote of thanks was proposed by KLSU Vice President Nchomroli Odyuo.
KLSU was formed in 1972 with Renathung as the first president. The Union was formed with hope, vision and ideas to work for the welfare of the Kohima Lotha students in particular and Lotha community in general.
