‘Peace Training and Skill development’ webinar series concludes

Dimapur, November 28 (MExN): Peace Channel successfully completed its webinar series on the theme, “Peace Training and Skill development” from November 25 to 28. 

Dr Deben Sharma, Assistant Professor, NEISSR shared on ‘Educational Institution as a Place of Peace’. He emphasized on concepts of institution, education and peace. He enlightened the participants to ponder upon the three concept in relating to their past experiences that each one has undergone during their scholastic days and state whether those bygone days will be stated as a place of peace or not, if not why not and if yes why so? 

Rev Fr Varghese Alengaden, Founder and Director of Universal Solidarity Movement, Indore focused on ‘Role of Teachers in Peace Building’. He elucidated that there are number of people in the world who do talk about peace and preach peace, but they do not believe and thus there are lots of conflict, we are yet to experience true peace because something has gone wrong, something has been broken, something. 

In the concluding note, Dr Fr CP Anto, Director Peace Channel cum Principal NEISSR, shared on the “Role of Educators in Creating a Culture of Peace.” He encouraged the educators to capacitate the children to stand on their own feet, empower the children, be a mentor as a peace educator, be a possibility thinker, get in dept by exploring the essence of education, share one’s personal experiences, make teaching their passion rather than just a profession and use creative methods of teaching. 

The webinar concluded with feedback and evaluation of the session. The response from the participants were positive and the participants too shared on their personal experiences being an initiator of peace and shared on their action plans to carry forth the peace mission in their own vicinity.

The preliminary training organized by Peace Channel slatted into four different series was attended by around 332 participants.
