Kisama, December 9 (MExN): Peteneilhu Kulimbe (35) from Peren district emerged winner of Naga Chef Season-7 organized by Synergy Group Enterprise and supported by Nagaland government as part of the Hornbill Festival of Nagaland at Kisama.
Advisor to Chief Minister of Nagaland, Abu Metha speaking during the award ceremony on December 9 informed that CM Neiphiu Rio is keen to promote the Naga culture and food and cuisine as it displays the best of the tradition.
He lauded SGE for successfully holding the event for the past seven years and promoting indigenous Naga cuisine.
He said that Hornbill festival unifies the different tribes of Nagaland with the people speaking one language of festival.
“It is time for Nagaland and Naga people to be known for the right things,” he said and asserted that the government will continue to support the young minds towards moving towards progress.
Metha also handed over the citation and cash award of Rs 3 lakh to the winner Kulimbe.
Director Tourism Department, Akhale Vizol encouraged the participants to be ambassadors of Naga cuisines even in the days to come.
Team member Alezo Kense shared the dreams of Naga Chef and the journey from 2013 till date.
Altogether six Naga Cooks were selected from the Screening round this year and after several grueling rounds- Culinary Skills, Mystery Basket, Pressure Task, My Signature Dish, Just Desserts and Group Round at the Naga Chef in Mhachaki, Kohima, only 3 finalists of Naga Chef Season-7 – Hechuba Chang, Peteneilhu Kulimbe and Chungmei Phom competed in the Entrepreneurial Round being conducted at The Amphitheatre in Naga Heritage Village, Kisama from December 1.
Former captain of Indian Football Team, Bhaichung Bhutia and Advisor for Information Technology and NRE Mmhonlumo Kikon were also present during prize distribution ceremony.
