Pfutsero, September 3 (MExN): Renowned poet and author Vishü Rita Krocha encouraged students of Pfutsero Government College to document their own stories rooted in their land through the practices of sitting and listening.
She was speaking at a seminar organised by the Department of English, Pfutsero Government College, on the theme “Voices of the Hills: Where Hills Speak Through Stories, Memories, and Tradition” at the college's Seminar Hall on September 2.
Sharing from her lived experiences in the fields and village, where she spent time with her grandparents and discovered her love for stories, Krocha emphasised the role of storytelling and oral traditions in shaping one's sense of identity and strengthening community ties.
The talk was followed by an interactive session during which students raised questions related to creative writing and storytelling.
Krocha also gifted copies of her authored books to the Department of English and its students.
The programme was chaired by Veduvolu Nienu, Assistant Professor, Department of English. The seminar began with a welcome address by Neipreu Mero, Head of Department and Assistant Professor, Department of English.
Vote of thanks was proposed by Sano Koza, Assistant Professor, Department of English. The seminar was attended by Principal Dr Anungla Pongener, faculty members and students of the department.
