DIMAPUR, JUNE 10 (MExN): The Pochury Hoho Dimapur District (PHDD) today condemned the recent raid conducted by the Assam Rifles personnel at the residence of its member Hopeson Snock, who was a former National People’s Party (NPP) candidate from 20 Meluri A/C, at Signal Angami on the morning of June 10.
A press release from the PHDD President, Zitho Nyuthe and General Secretary, Lapingtsu informed that the raid occurred around 2:00am “when he (Hopeson Snock) and his wife were out of station and created fear psychosis in the minds of the innocent children and family members.”
“This is perhaps the second time such raid had been undertaken by the AR personnel; the first raid was done on March 15, 2018, which is an act of unwarranted nuisance created by the AR personnel to the innocent family at the expense of AFSPA and should be highly condemned by one and all,” the PHDD stated.
The PHDD stated that Hopson Snock “is a sincere public leader and has public sympathy. He proves to be helpful in building the society and had contested the last General Election to the NLA 2018 on NPP ticket.” As such, the union appealed to the AR “not to repeat such act in the future.”
It meanwhile also condemned the firing incidents at the residences of Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister and NDPP legislator Sharingan Longkumar on June 5 and 6 respectively. The PHDD asked law enforcing agencies to book the culprits and award befitting punishment as per the law of the land.
