Longleng, December 6 (MExN): Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) was launched by A Apfen Phom, District Coordinator MMVY, Longleng on December 2 at CDPO office, Longleng. PMMVY is a maternity benefit programme that is implemented in all the districts of the country in accordance with the provision of the National Food Security Act, 2013, stated a DIPR report.
In her speech, Apfen spoke on the importance of the scheme and sensitized the pregnant and lactating mothers and children. She also encouraged the gathering to avail the opportunity provided by the Government and get registered to become beneficiary under the scheme. Speaking on the objectives of the scheme she stressed on targeted beneficiaries, benefit and mode of registration under the scheme.
It was organized by the department of Social Welfare and was launched under the theme "Towards Building a Healthy Nation." As part of the launch program and Matru Shakti Rashtra Shakti campaign in the district, a selfie photograph of mother with their babies was also taken during the programme.
