Kohima, November 2 (MExN): For the conduct of bye-election to be held on November 3 in 14 Southern Angami -1 (ST) Assembly Constituency, a total number of 132 polling personnel along with twenty two web casting operators and security personnel were dispatched on November 2 from the Office of Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Kohima. 

The polling parties collected Electronic Voting Machines (EVM), Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) and other required polling materials and proceeded to their respective assigned polling stations for the successful conduct of the bye-election. 

Info on campaign 
DC & DEO Kohima Mohammed Ali Shihab A IAS has informed all concerned that under Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, in the period of 48 hours ending with the hour fixed for the close of poll, no campaign can be carried out.

In view of the fact that after the closure of campaign period no campaign can take place, the Election Commission of India vide letter NO. 462/INST/2007-PLN-I dated January 8, 2017, has directed that no political functionaries, party workers, procession functionaries or campaign functionaries etc. from outside the constituency and who are not voters of the constituency shall remain in the constituency after the campaign period is over.

Accordingly, DC has informed all concerned to take note of the restrictions and ensure that no political functionaries, party workers, procession functionaries and campaign functionaries etc. from outside the constituency and who are not voters of the constituency shall remain in the constituency from 4:00 pm of November 1 till the election is over.
