Longleng/Mon, September 3 (MExN): The month long celebration of Poshan Maah 2024, ICDS project by the Department of Social Welfare Longleng was launched on September 3 on the theme "Ek Ped Maa Ke Nam" at CDPO office premises, Longleng.
Deputy Commissioner Longleng, W Manpai Phom, in his address, encouraged the Anganwadi workers to work diligently and said they should be transparent and accountable so as to benefit the people of the district. He said simple use of the word 'mother earth' in itself speaks volumes. Mothers play a vital role in shaping and building society or a nation, upbringing an individual to the path of prosperity or damnation. Nutritional value of both the mother and child is very important and education is best obtained when a child receives the best nutrition/food and performs to its best abilities, he underscored.
The DC further urged the gathering to disseminate information on protecting mother earth. Protecting our earth is not only about planting trees at a large scale but activities like hunting and fishing should be reduced and it requires the participation of the mass, he elaborated. The DC also led the Poshan Pledge.
Brief note on Poshan Abhiyaan and Poshan Maah was highlighted by District coordinator S. Longhong Phom. The programme was chaired by CDPO Longleng, Anuo Longho.
In Mon, Deputy Commissioner Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, graced the launching programme of the month-long celebration of Poshan Maah at DRDA Hall on September 3. The event was organized by the Department of Social Welfare under the theme, “Suposhit Kishori Sashakt Nari”.
In his speech, DC pointed out that the main focus of the government behind Poshan Maah, is to fight against malnutrition among children, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers, a DIPR report stated.
He said, unless the children are provided with nutritional food they will not grow healthy and strong and capable of facing the challenges. He also encouraged them to familiarize and be more responsible with the objectives of the Poshan Maah programme and provide proper awareness at the grassroots level. A brief note on Poshan Abhiyaan was delivered by CDPO (ICDS) Mon Project. On the occasion, the Poshan Maah pledge was read out.
