Kohima, March 12 (MExN): As part of Block activity for the celebration of Poshan Pakhwada 2020, a programme was organized by the office of CDPO, Kohima (Tribal) at Rusoma village Badminton Stadium on the March 12.
Senior Supervisor of CDPO office, Kohima (Tribal), Reyivolu spoke on the importance of health and nutrition for adolescents and mothers. She compared the drawbacks and the benefits of having a healthy mother and a sickly mother. She stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness in daily chores. The ability to breastfeed the child by the mother is a gift from God, hence every mother should be glad to breastfeed the baby exclusively till 6 months and continue breastfeeding till the baby reaches 2 years of age, she added.
She also said that the first 1000 days of the child’s life right from conception is the window of opportunity for the parents to help the child.
Keneilhoupfenuo, Supervisor from CDPO office, Kohima (Tribal) also spoke on the prevalence of anaemia in women and adolescent girls. She highlighted the importance of consuming locally available vegetables and fruits. She also spoke on the importance of growth monitoring for children till the age of 5 years. She encouraged mothers to take the children to AWCs and monitor their height and weight regularly.
Demonstration of hand washing was done, and poster and pamphlets were distributed, followed by taking of Poshan Pledge, according to a report from the CDPO Office, Kohima (Tribal).
