DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 26 (MExN): The Department of Power, Dimapur Electrical Division has issued a clarification to the November 25 incident at AH Road, Deluxe point, Dimapur where an electrical pole collapsed and damaged a rickshaw. The incident had gone viral in social media since then with commentators blaming the power department for the mishap. In a clarification issued on Tuesday, Executive Engineer, Dimapur Electrical Division, Er Imsenkaba said even though the electrical pole belonged to the power department, the incident cannot be blamed on them. It claimed that the said pole which collapsed is an unused street light pole without any electrical connection, which was to be removed once the newly constructed line is commissioned. It further claimed that “Reliance Jio company has stringed their cable on the pole illegally which made the pole to fall over the rickshaw...” Alleging that Reliance Jio company, BSNL, local TV distributer and others are all stringing their cables in almost all the electrical pole illegally, the power department has informed all the companies to remove their cables immediately so as to avoid such incident in the future.
