Welcomes agreement between NNPGs, NSCN (IM) to form Council of Naga Relationships and Cooperation
Kohima, October 20 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has welcomed agreement between the NNPGs and the NSCN (IM) in Kolkata to form the Council of Naga Relationships and Cooperation.
“Such bold and outright decision is very welcoming as the Naga people’s earnest prayer for unity and reconciliation is finally being answered by our Almighty God,” a press communiqué from the NPF Press Bureau stated on Thursday.
Congratulating the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) for taking such an initiative, the NPF stated that the achievement would be marked as ‘the red letter day’ for the Naga people.
It also acknowledged the two groups for keeping the problems of the Naga people first and agreeing to “come under one term with a renewed spirit of commitment for reconciliation and unity.”
The party appreciated the two groups for understanding the urgency to rise above our present condition and agreeing upon “the commitment to the values of truth, forgiveness, justice and peace as the discerning power to help choose a shared future over the divisions of the past.”
The NPF expressed hope that with this significant development and decision, “the Nagas can be optimistic that our long yearning for peace and unity amongst our brothers will be a reality soon and wished both the groups the best for their next endeavour.”
It meanwhile, reiterated that the NPF was formed as a political party with the objective and foremost priority for the early resolution to the Naga political issue and the party has fervently urged upon the Government of India to hear the cries of the Naga people and expedite for an early resolution to the Naga political problem with the Naga negotiating groups to a logical conclusion that is honourable, acceptable and inclusive.
