Dimapur, November 26 (MExN): Peace Channel completed second day of its preliminary training on ‘Peer Mediation’ which was attended by more than 100 participants from different states of India. The programme was facilitated by Vitono Haralu, Trainer cum consultant.
Garrol Lotha, Project Coordinator cum Trainer, Peace Channel, Dimapur shared on Peer Mediations that includes the concept of peer educator, its importance, objective, purpose and process of forming peer mediation forum in the colleges, universities and localities.
She emphasized on the concept, process and principles of Peer Mediation. In order to make the concept comprehensible she briefed on the activities that a mediator can initiate in bringing positive change by developing a greater understanding of health and development issues to bring about positive behavioral change within the family, institutions and communities.
Dr Fr CP Anto, Director, Peace Channel cum Principal NEISSR in his session shared on how we can look forward to enhance the quality of an individual where the youth will be trained on developing their confidence and skills and be able to inspire others as well.
He added that youth can be transformed by following the strategic approach of Peace Channel by disseminating correct information, forming them into organized groups and transforming the culture of violence into culture of peace through their peaceful intervention in times of conflict that will eventually lead to peaceful and harmonious living.
A press release from Peace Channel stated that the programme concluded with an open discussion where the participants actively part took by putting forward queries and feedbacks for the session. The following is the highlight of the upcoming program which will be stressed on “Peace Forum” and “Role of Educators in peace building” respectively.
