DIMAPUR, MARCH 28 (MExN): The Eastern Konyak Union (EKU) today rued that amidst the already existing apprehension from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Eastern Konyak people in Myanmar are facing more fear due to military operations in the Naga Self Administered Zone in Myanmar.
A press release from the EKU President, SA Khotai; and General Secretary, K Honwang expressed anguish that instead of supplying medical care to the people in these remote regions, the military have engaged in “war like movement.” It alleged that the Indian government is “supplying operation ration” for the Myanmar military at Longwa village by helicopter.
“Instead of medicine and save the people they are searching for the NSCN without any given signal to the innocent people,” the EKU alleged.
“Public wants medicine, not arms, ammunition, bombing and firing anymore,” it pleaded.
The EKU further urged all Naga NGOs and human rights organisations to take note of the situation and asked the military to “cease the harassment” on humanitarian ground.
