With the rise of COVID case in Kiphire and to stymie community spread, the Kiphire medical department along with the United Sangtam Likhüm Pümji (USLP) carried out random testing at Delux Point, Kiphire town on June 8.
During the exercise, District Epidemiologist (IDSP) Dr Dheni expressed gratitude to USLP, United Sangtam Students Conference (USSC) and Kiphire Area Students Union (KASU) for providing workforce to conduct the exercise. He expressed hope that organisations and CSOs will continue to extend support and cooperation in the future as well.
The USLP also expressed gratitude to the medical department and lauded their selfless work to ensure and contain the spread of COVID in Kiphire. It also encouraged citizens of Kiphire to take the COVID vaccine and go for testing as it was the only way to defeat the virus.
Intensified COVID-19 vaccination drive
Meanwhile, the Kiphire District Task Force has decided to undertake an intensified COVID-19 vaccination drive at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Kiphire from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on June 9. Informing this through the DIPR on Tuesday, the task force requested eligible citizens to avail the opportunity.
It informed that for beneficiaries in the 18-44-years and 45-years and above age groups, spot registration/verification would be allowed with ID proof. For Healthcare workers and frontline workers with prior registration, employment certificates duly signed by the controlling officer should be produced, it added.

DC Kiphire cautions village authorities
Kiphire, June 8 (MExN): Citing reports that some village authorities in Kiphire have issued prohibitory directives preventing the entry and exit of medical personnel, Kiphire Deputy Commissioner Rahul Mali has cautioned that such unauthorized obstructions would attract legal action.
“The DC has warned that such unauthorized obstruction and violation of laid down Government orders and infringement on individual rights and offence shall invite legal action under section 186 and 188 of the Indian Penal Code, Nagaland Epidemic Diseases Regulations 2020 and section 51 of the Disaster Management Act 2005,” a DIPR report stated on Tuesday.
Action shall be initiated against any village authorities violating of this order and obstructing the entry and exit of medical staffs including general public, it added.
