Dimapur | March 25

A month after the Government of India’s interlocutor for the Indo-Naga peace talks RN Ravi held talks with the Naga civil society in Kohima and Dimapur last February, the interlocutor landed in Nagaland on March 25.

Ravi’s visit this time was to meet the NSCN (IM) leadership in Dimapur. As per sources, the closed door meeting at the NAPTC, Chumoukedima today was attended by 14 NSCN (IM) delegates led by Ato Kilonser/General Secretary, Th. Muivah.

However, as has been the norm, what was discussed in the meeting remained highly guarded.

The sources said that the meeting was held in two sessions with Ravi and Muivah holding a one-on-one followed by another that included other members of the NSCN (IM) Collective Leadership.

One of the NSCN (IM) leaders, who attended the meeting, when contacted declined to comment stating he was not authorised to speak with regard to what transpired in the meeting.  While meetings between the two parties have been confined to New Delhi, today’s was said to be the first in over a decade for a GoI interlocutor to hold formal talks with NSCN (IM) in Naga soil.

According to the leader, who did not wish to be named, it was the second such meeting held here with the first occurring in 2007.
