REC Limited commits to transform health & education sector in Kiphire

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 30 (MExN): REC Limited has committed to assist Kiphire, one among the 115 aspirational districts to transform its health and school education and also provide residential facility to its staff with a financial assistance of Rs 9.66 crore under CSR initiative. 

The assistance support will include education to 20 to 30 selected candidates from Kiphire district for Paramedical studies, besides providing 2 doctors and 15 nurses to improve Maternal and Child Health care and to improve antenatal care, which is one of the lowest in the country, a press statement issued by REC Limited informed. 

In addition, six vaccine storage facilities would be provided in Kiphire District Hospital, Amahator PHC, Sitimi PHC, Likhimo PHC and Pungro Community Health Centre. The project also supports construction/ renovation/ repair of 25 dilapidated government school buildings. Smart class rooms for 15 schools will be piloted and teachers will be trained in using these tools.

The financial assistance will be provided to construct 19 residential facilities for medical staff at Kiphire Sadar, Pungro, Seyochung Sitimi. Another 22 will be constructed for education staff in Kiphire, Pungro and Seyochung. 

There is no accommodation otherwise available in these locations and these residential facilities will help staff to stay in the place of posting and provide timely medical services to the people and quality education to the students, it stated. 

The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) in this regard was executed between REC Foundation and DC, Kiphire, Nagaland on November 29. Dr. S N Srinivas, CEO, REC Foundation and
Sarita Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire, signed the MoA in the presence of S K Gupta, Director – Technical and Ajoy Choudhury, ED (Finance & CSR), REC Limited.
