DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 27 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio today graced the first day of the Ngada Mini Hornbill Festival at RSA ground, Tseminyu Old Town and greeted the Rengma community.
Speaking as the special guest, the CM said that the festival has been celebrated since “time immemorial,” adding that “our forefathers celebrated festivals only after harvesting their hard work.”
According to a DIPR report, the CM urged the Rengma community to work hard so that they can take advantage of the fertile land, thereby uplifting the economy of the region.
Meanwhile, regarding the demand for upgradation of Tseminyu Sub-Division to the status of a district, Rio stated that a decision on this would be taken by the State Government after due consideration is given to all sectors.
R Khing, Advisor for Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Services and Women Resources Development was the Ngada Host. Er. Chengato Kath chaired the celebration program.
Folk songs and dances from various Rengma villages, Touphema Cultural Troupe and a special number by Dayspring Male Voice were the highlights of the celebration.
Rengma Hoho President, Kenyuseng Tep delivered the welcome address while President of the Tiyimi People's Organisation also conveyed greetings.
Invocation prayer was pronounced by Rev Andrew, Mission Director, Nagaland Mission Movement. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Gwsthonlo Tsela.
A host of Ministers, Advisors and bureaucrats accompanied the Chief Minister.
Earlier, the 50 years of Tseminyu New Town was also commemorated, where a stone memorial monolith was unveiled and inaugurated by Minister of Soil and Water Conservation, Khashiho Sangtam.
