Return only if necessary, APO appeals

KOHIMA, MAY 12 (MExN): The Angami Public Organisation (APO) has advised citizens of Nagaland, who are in other parts of the country, planning to return home to do so only if very necessary.

A press release from the APO noted that thousands of stranded people are returning home, and particularly to Kohima and Dimapur. It asked those concerned to decide well before taking a decision to travel.

“Out there in the place where you are residing, you could facing various problems and difficulties, but the APO feels that staying home, wherever you are, could be the safest thing for you to do at a time such as this. At the moment, you may be free of the virus, but there is a bigger risk for you to expose yourself to the virus during your travels,” the organization stated.

It meanwhile assured that the organization is ready to facilitate their coming if they really need to return.

“However, It is our sincere desire that you stay safe and also think twice before taking your decision to return. Unless you are in position where you find it very necessary to return, we feel it is best that you stay there where you are for the betterment of all,” it appealed.

The APO further stated that it would do its part and extend necessary help by requesting the Government to initiate prompt and timely actions to help those in need.

CPO asks reconsideration of travel plans

Meanwhile, the Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) also expressed concern over “our students and employees who are stranded in different parts of the country during this critical period of lockdown on COVID-19 pandemic.”

“Situations no doubt calls on to return to their own respective home state. However considering the facts with all the preparations that are taking place, to come at this moment will not merit much,” said a press release from CPO President, Mikha Kenye and General Secretary, Veduvo Rhakho.

It observed that any lapses on guidelines protocols will lead to social unrest which will have far reaching consequences. It therefore appealed to the stranded students and employees outside Nagaland state to reconsider their return plans to stay back for some period.

It also requested the parents to have considerate understanding even if they are desirous to bring back their children.

“The state government is requested to provide necessary measures in case of students and employees decide to stay back,” the CPO added.
