‘Reviving the Glory of Drum’ in Tuensang

Citizens pulling the log drum named ‘Anong’ to be installed at Tuensang district DBs Customary Court on November 19.
 

Tuensang, November 19 (MExN): Under the theme ‘Reviving the Glory of Drum,’ Tuensang district DBs Customary Court installed a log drum on November 19. The log drum named ‘Anong’ was donated by Waoshu village and the ceremony was graced by Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang Mohammed Ali Shihab as the special guest. 


The log drum was pulled from DC Bungalow to Customary Court Tuensang. It was attended by Waoshu villagers, elders, DBs and officers of the district. The installation programme held at Customary Court Hall Tuensang was led Kevithito Rose, EAC Tuensang. Yangchu Chang PA to DC Tuensang and Convenor Planning committee delivered the opening remark. 


Speaking in the occasion, the DC appreciated the collective initiatives of the citizen and the Waoshu villagers for donating the log drum to the district. “It is an asset for the district and under it the district should live in peace, prosperity and harmony,” he said. “It occupies the significant role in the minds of the Nagas and it is not just a wooden drum but rather an emblem of unity, sacrifice and bravery,” he added. 


The DC said that “It tells us the legacy, culture and tradition of our forefather’s sacrifice in building this society. It is an integral part of the culture and signifies the wealth and riches of the village. In current context it simply signifies the symbol of identity and we must be proud to have such asset.”


Rajashikaran, DIG also exhorted the citizen to live in peace, harmony and happiness under log drum.  T. Oungbou, DB and friends presented folk song. S Namang, HDGB Waoshu village and Heno, Rtd PA to DC also delivered short speeches while M. Chingmak, Spl Grd DB Tuensang delivered the vote of thanks.
