Tuensang, May 6 (MExN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio inspected the COVID Hospital Tuensang and held a joint meeting with District Officers, Civil Societies, Church leaders and NGOs during his visit to the district on May 6.
Updates from the DIPR informed that the Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Justice & Law CM Chang and Minister for Health and Family Welfare S Pangnyu Phom.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister is said to have updated on the video conferencing with the Central government regarding law and order situation, loopholes and success stories of COVID 19 etc, according to the DIPR. He also announced the relaxation of the lockdown and movement of inter district stranded individuals, it said.
He also appreciated the hard work of all stakeholders and is said to have congratulated the efforts of the people and Tuensang Chamber of Commerce and Industry in ‘materializing the much needed ICU.’ Rio asked the Government departments, civil societies, churches and NGO to strive for the safety of the public and said that everyone should continue following the guidelines to contain from infections even though we do not have positive cases till now.
The Chief Minister said that the state should take advantage of the current scenario and work towards generating the economy by focusing on the agriculture and allied sectors and progressive entrepreneurs. He also highlighted on the recent COVID cess on the price in fuels ‘to reinforce the medical facilities and equipment making it sustainable for every situation of the state,’ the DIPR stated.
Meanwhile, the Health Minister responded to a memorandum regarding the installation of ventilator machines at District Hospital Tuensang. He said that presently, installation is underway in Kohima and Dimapur and the rest of the districts will follow suit. He also advised the District Administration and Medical Department to check the quality of incoming consignments and return them if the equipments are “not up to the mark,” the report stated.
Deputy CM Y Patton asked the Deputy Commissioner to direct all the villages to relax entry at the village gates and allow the stranded people to enter their respective villages.
According to the DIPR, the DC presented a report on all the preventive activities conducted in the district and highlighted on the total numbers of preventive gears, institutional quarantine centres and on the establishment of the facilitation centres to assist the stranded individuals in the district. SP Tuensang and Tuensang CMO also reported on the activities conducted by their respective departments, it stated.
Rio distributed relief to daily wage earners which was arranged by Tuensang District Disaster Management Authority while Deputy CM donated walkie talkie sets to Village Guards of Tuensang, Longleng, Kiphire and Shamator, the DIPR stated.
