Critical highway routes in Nagaland, including the vital Dimapur-to-Mokokchung road via Kohima and Wokha, have become dangerously dilapidated, posing severe risks to travelers. Beginning in the Chümoukedima area, the route is hazardous with rock falls and stagnant water lining the roads. The situation continues towards Wokha, where mudslides are frequent. Uprooted trees and damaged plantations further increase risks for travelers. The situation is particularly critical on the stretch between the Doyang area and VK Town. In several locations, water flows like a river across the road, creating dangerous conditions for vehicles. The persistent poor infrastructure severely impedes daily commute, economic activity and raises serious safety concerns for residents and visitors alike, who depend on these vital lifelines for transportation across the state.
