Chief Secretary directs action against rumour mongers

 

DIMAPUR, MARCH 16 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Secretary, Temjen Toy today cautioned against the spread of rumours on social media regarding COVID-19 cases in the State. 


Dismissing the rumour of confirmed cases in Nagaland as false, the Chief Secretary in an order directed that “all steps be taken to ensure that such persons are immediately booked and action taken as per appropriate sections of law.” Necessary clearances be taken for identification of such elements, the Chief Secretary added. He further directed that latest report may be submitted by 9:00am on March 17 and on a twelve hourly basis thereafter. 


Principal Director, Health and Family Welfare, Dr Vizolie Z Suokhrie also issued a clarification quashing the rumour as not true. 


“All over the country, testing is done only in government facilities duly identified and certified by the MoHFW, Government of India. Private hospitals/laboratories are not mandated to conduct testing for Covid19,” he informed. 


The Principal Director added that sample collection, transportation and testing will be done through the State Health Department. Additionally, the identified testing centers will reject any samples from any other source except the State Health Department.
