Sakhi One Stop Centre for women at Medical Ward was inaugurated by Bano Vinito Chairperson Nagaland Social Welfare Board on May 28 attended by DC M. Shayung Phom Kiphire, Officers from various departments and NGOs leaders from different organisation.
Speaking at the inaugural programme DC extended gratitude to the Nagaland Social Welfare Department for setting up one stop centre for the welfare of abused and distressed women in Kiphire saying that such support system will go a long way in addressing the problems faced by the women.
DC also assured of all help from the side of the administration for the successful implementation of one stop centre and urge upon the staff to dedicate themselves to help the vulnerable section of the society.
Addressing the gathering after the inauguration Bano Vinito Chairman Nagaland Social Welfare Board Sakhi one stop Centre is a scheme formulated by the G.O.I which provides one-stop facility for women and girls subjected to violence and any other forms of harassment.
In the past, Bano Vinito said, such victims had to visit multiple offices for their grievances to be attended to but from now on, seeking justice for such women will be more accessible, ‘the Sakhi centre can provide them support including councelling, Mediacal, legal and police assistance under one roof’ she added.
These one stop centres provide psychological support /counselling, legal aid, police assistance and the centre are open round the clock. The Sakhi centre opened in Medical Ward will be monitored by a management committee headed by DC.
The program was led by Rolila S. Sangtam Centre Administrator, Sakhi-one stop Centre, while the invocation was pronounced by Dr. Apise Secretary, USBLA Sub Centre Kiphire.
