Kohima, November 18 (MExN): As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav - celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence, sales day was organised at Botsa Town by Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC), Self Help Groups under Nagaland Forest Management Project & Forest Development Agency on November 18. 

A press release stated here that the programme commenced with an invocation by Sasievi Kaco, JFMC Vice Chairman. Addressing the village members, V Mato Koso, Field Management Unit Head Chiephobozou Range, highlighted on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, where different activities are being carried out in all parts of the country. He urged the SHGs members to organise such programmes in the future and assured all possible help to assist them. 

Addressing the SHGs members, Nagato K Aye Team Leader FNGO NEIDA asked the SHGs members to approach the Community Mobilizers for any assistance. Since many villages are located near the highway, he said that the SHGs have the advantage of selling their products. He said that one problem faced by the farmers is pricing, for which he suggested the SHGs members to fix the price of commodities and sell their products accordingly. He requested the JFMC members to give their support to the SHGs members and make this project a success. 

SHGs and JFMC members from Tuophema, Zhadima ‘A’ and Seiyhama villages under Chiephobozou Range took part during the Sales Day. Organic products such as pumpkin, yam, ash gourd, bitter gourd, ginger, beans, king chilli, banana, squash, tree tomato, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, guava, local garlic, rice (pejo), lemon,modi, beef pickle, king chilli pickle, vegetables and other locally prepared food items were displayed and sold to the people.
