Dimapur, July 10 (MExN): The State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Medziphema, conducted a five-day training programme on "Human Resource Development Skills for Increasing Efficiency of Extension Functionaries" from July 6 to 10 for officers and functionaries from agriculture and allied departments.

Speaking at the inaugural session, SAMETI Director and Principal of the Institute of Extension Training Centre (IETC), Bodevi Shuya, stressed the importance of human resource development (HRD) for government officials and called for fostering a culture of sincerity in the workplace for the benefit of citizens.

He urged personnel from agriculture and allied departments to develop and adopt HRD skills to ensure the effective dissemination of agricultural technologies to the farming community.

Director of the Extension Education Institute (EEI), North Eastern Region, Guwahati, Dr Rajumoni Bordoloi, also addressed the inaugural session, highlighting the need for extension functionaries to continuously update themselves and adopt new HRD skills to improve their effectiveness.

The training featured sessions by resource persons including Dr Rajumoni Bordoloi, Dr Sajib Boruah of EEI NER Guwahati, Dr Watimongla Jamir, former Director of SAMETI Nagaland, Ms Marneni Divya Sree, Subject Matter Specialist at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dimapur, Dr Deepa Thangjam and Dr Merensangla, Assistant Professor, Department of Rural Development, School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University.

Participants included officers from the Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Soil and Water Conservation, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences, as well as Deputy Project Directors from the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA).
