Zunheboto, October 7 (MExN): The All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to heads and staff of various government offices under Satoi EAC Headquarters, alleging that several offices are either non-functional or irregularly functioning, causing difficulties for people seeking government services.
In an ultimatum dated October 7, the SKK said the issue came to its notice during an education tour across Sumi-inhabited areas, including Satoi, where it found that people were not getting proper access to concerned government offices and officials.
The union has directed all concerned heads of offices and staff to remain at their respective places of posting and ensure that the offices function regularly and remain accessible to the public during official working hours.
The departments specifically named by the SKK are Rural Development (BDO), Social Welfare (CDPO), PWD/Housing, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, and Agriculture.
The seven-day period runs from October 7 to 13, with the union stating that the concerned offices must remain properly functional and accessible during the period.
The SKK cautioned that failure to comply by October 13 would invite “strong action and further necessary steps” from the union. It also said it would take up the matter with higher authorities and pursue action against officers and staff whom it considers to be failing in their official responsibilities.
The union said its demand was being raised in the larger public interest, with the objective of ensuring that government offices function from their designated places of posting and that people receive timely government services.
