TYO urges public to keep river clean

After conducting rejuvenation and clean up Vürie River programme here today as part of “Save Vürie River” campaign, the Tsütuonuomia Youth Organization (TYO) Kohima Village urged the public to keep the river clean.
Through a billboard along National Highway-29 near SKV Petrol Pump Bouzie, the TYO also asked the public not to throw garbage and rubbish in the river and warned that defaulters will be penalized.
Among the other billboards reads “Pollution free, what the planet needs to be. Stop polluting our river,” “Not too late to save water’s fate.”
This clean up Vürie River programme was organized by TYO and Tsütuonuomia Peli Union in partnership with department of rural development Nagaland.
The campaign was formally launched by Thepfüvilie Suohu, president T Khel Council, Kohima village.
He said the council in association with the youth would discuss and come up with certain resolutions to conserve Vürie River.
K.Neibou Sekhose described “Save Vürie River” campaign as a welcome step and assured that the government will be always there to coordinate with any organization that stands committed to conserve the environment and water resources.
T. Khel Peli Union chairman Visasielie Suohu also stressed on the need to take corrective measure to keep the river clean and refrain from dirtying the same.
