Sazolie College hosts IBM SkillsBuild session on AI

Kohima, September 13 (MExN): Sazolie College, Phezhu, Jotsoma, conducted an IBM SkillsBuild for Adult Learners (SB4AL) orientation and training session on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in collaboration with Edunet Foundation on September 11.

The programme brought together students, faculty and staff of the college for an informative and interactive engagement on AI, digital skills and emerging technologies.

Deepneel Majumdar of Edunet Foundation provided an orientation on IBM SkillsBuild for Adult Learners, familiarising participants with the objectives and opportunities offered through the programme and emphasising the importance of continuous learning and acquiring industry-relevant digital skills.

The orientation was followed by a session on Artificial Intelligence, during which Majumdar introduced participants to the fundamentals of AI and its growing applications in education, professional life and everyday activities.

He explained how AI enables computer systems to perform tasks associated with human intelligence, including learning, understanding, problem-solving, decision-making and creativity.

A significant component of the training focused on prompt engineering, helping participants understand how effective communication with generative AI tools can produce more relevant and useful results.

Participants were introduced to various prompting techniques, including zero-shot, one-shot, few-shot, negative, iterative and prompt-chaining approaches, along with Chain-of-Thought prompting.

Call for responsible use of AI
Majumdar also highlighted the importance of responsible and meaningful use of AI and encouraged participants to develop digital literacy, critical thinking and an informed understanding of the technology.

Participants were also encouraged to explore IBM SkillsBuild as a platform for continuous learning and skill development.

The programme highlighted the value of supplementing formal academic education with digital and industry-relevant competencies to enhance career preparedness in a rapidly changing technological environment.

Earlier, Sazolie College principal Dr Gopal Chetri highlighted the importance of keeping pace with technological advancements and encouraged students to make meaningful use of emerging opportunities in the digital sphere.

The session concluded with an emphasis on continuous upskilling, digital competence, responsible use of technology and lifelong learning.

The programme provided the Sazolie College community with an opportunity to gain practical exposure to Artificial Intelligence while encouraging students and teachers to remain adaptable and future-ready in an increasingly digital world.
