Kohima, November 30 (MExN): Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton on November 30 officially opened the Seithogei to IG Stadium by-pass in Kohima. This is the fulfillment of his earlier commitment to make the said road motorable before the Hornbill Festival 2021, claimed a press release from the Media Cell, Dy CMO.
A brief opening programme was held at NH 29, the same location where he made the commitment to open the road on November 6, it said. The Dy CM acknowledged the effort of the department officials and tirelessly working to make it happen led by the South Division Engineer and team in executing the project, it added.
Patton appreciated the co-operation led by the Kohima village leaders and citizens in extending support in ensuring that there is no disturbance and no issue of landownership which he said is a good example for other districts to follow.
With the opening of the pass road, travellers from districts Wokha, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Longleng, Zunheboto among others would be eased, by cutting distance by 6 KM and further help the people from Secretariat, IG Stadium, Tinpati, High School and other surrounding areas to travel to Dimapur without crossing the Kohima Smart City.
It was informed that, with the opening of the road, it will now be handed over to Kohima Smart City.
Further, the DY CM also mentioned that the road could only be materialized with the support of L Khel and T Khel of Kohima village and the local MLA Khriehu Liezietsu support, the release said.
Er Kahuli Sema, the Chief Engineer of Road and Bridges (R&B) also appreciated the Kohima Village for the extending support to the project and the team of Kohima PWD South Division led by the Executive Engineer, it informed.
Patton was accompanied by Minister, Tongpang Ozukum; Advisor Imnatiba; Advisor Medo Yhokha; MLA Khriehu Liezietsu; DGP, T John Longkumer, Principal Secretary Menukhol John, Engineer in Chief of PWD Limanaro and other host of officials besides the Kohima Lotha Hoho (KLH) and Kohima Lotha Students Union (KLSU), Kohima village and Khel leaders.
