Officials from Department of Forest, Himachal Pradesh visited Nagaland to study the best practices followed in Nagaland Forest Management Project which is assisted by JICA.

Dimapur, September 10 (MExN): Officials from Department of Forest, Himachal Pradesh, Nagesh Kumar Guleria, APCCF and CPD, JICA (PIHPFEM & L), Dr Sushil Kumar Kapta, APCCF (Management) and Parveen Taak, Joint Secretary to the Government of Himachal Pradesh visited Nagaland to study the best practices followed in Nagaland Forest Management Project which is assisted by JICA.
A press release stated here that the visiting team held a meeting with Project Monitoring Unit on September 9. Dharmendra Prakash, IFS, PCCF & HoFF and his team of Project directors explained the visiting team about the NFMP project.
The visiting team visited Terogvunyu Village on September 9. The visiting officials were accompanied by Rongsenlemla Imchen IFS, CF (NTC), Rajkumar M IFS, DFO Kohima and DMU team. Upon their arrival at Terogvunyu, the DFO apprised the visiting officials on the historical importance of Naga village gates, the construction of which is ongoing under the Project in the village as a part of Entry Point Activity.
During a brief interaction with the JFMC, SHGs and the village members in the council hall, the CF (NTC) expressed gratitude to the officials for visiting the village and urged the village community to take the opportunity to interact and learn from the officials. The officials also checked the registers maintained by the JFMCs and encouraged them to keep up the good work.
Meanwhile, the DFO highlighted on how the JICA assisted NFMP is making positive impact in the project villages and he explained them about the innovations done by Kohima Division. The officials also visited the Forestry Intervention Models area. The visiting team appreciated the best practices that are followed in the field.
After a brief halt at FMU office, Tseminyu, they proceeded to Wokha and Mokokchung accompanied by the CF (STC).
