Dimapur, May 21 (MExN): Dimapur police personnel assisted by the 24th Assam Rifles, and the IRB conducted a surprise “flush out operation” in different parts of the district today which lasted from 6:00 am till 9:00 am here today. The district police reiterated and informed chairmen and leaders of different colonies not to harbor or shelter any underground cadres in their respective colonies as it might aggravate the law and order situation in the city. However, no underground cadres were arrested or arms seized during the “flush out” conducted today.
Informing this over the phone, a senior Dimapur official disclosed that a large number of troops from the 24th Assam Rifles, IRB and the Dimapur DEF, set into four groups, conducted the ‘flush out’ of underground cadres. The operation was conducted in Tuoluvi village, Wungrum colony, Westyard colony, Railway Bazar area, Chatheswari colony, Sematilla, Lengrijan colony, Dillai area, Nui colony and Veterinary colony.
Asserting that the underground cadres should be staying in their designated camps and not in public areas, the police official informed that the security forces will be conducting such surprise raids from time to time in the district. However, the police sources refused to divulge the reasons behind the sudden ‘surprise flush-out operation’. The last such operation was carried out last year. He said today’s operation was just a ‘routine exercise’ which will be conducted from time to time in the interest of law and order situation in the city.
