Dimapur, January 23 (MExN): With the Government of Nagaland upgrading the Shamator sub-division into a full-fledged district, thanksgiving services were in all Yimkhiung churches across the State on January 23.

The thanksgiving services were held in all Yimkhiung churches in Shamator district, Pungro subdivision under Kiphire district, Kohima, Dimapur, Chümoukedima,Tuensang and elsewhere, informed a press release from the Yimkhiung Tribal Council. 

The thanksgiving services were held to thank God for answering the prayers of the faithful for the long cherished dreams of the Yimkhiung Naga tribe, it said. 

The fulfillment of dreams included official declaration of Shamator as a district on January 20 as well as the announcement of an independent Pungro Sub Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) on January 21, it added.  

Appreciation notes also poured in for Chief Minister Nieiphiu Rio and his cabinet colleagues and bureaucrats who make possible the dream to become a reality, the release said. 

YTC officials also spoke in different churches thanking gathering for their prayer supports as well as Shamator-Chessore MLA S Keoshu Yimchunger for his “tireless efforts for Shamator District.”  

The day also remembered the Yimkhiung pioneers who struggled to lay down the foundation.
