SHGs trained on banking related matters

Kohima, December 6 (MExN): With the objective of guiding Self Help Groups on various facets of banking related matters, a one day sensitization cum training on bank linkage for leaders of 35 SHGs was organized in Jotsoma Village on December 5 sponsored by NABARD in collaboration with NSRLM.  

Delivering keynote address, Poji, District Development Manager, NABARD stressed on the importance of practicing ‘Panchasutra’ (regular meetings; regular savings; regular inter-loaning; timely repayment and up-to-date book of accounts) by Self Help Groups. In his exhortation, Peter Lokho, Lead District Manager Kohima, SBI beseeched the participants to maintain credit discipline for maintaining a good rapport with the banks and also called for caution against ATM frauds and tele-frauds.  

Partha Pratim Buragohain, Deputy Manager, SBI Kohima Main Branch, in his speech explained the procedures to be followed by the SHGs for opening bank accounts and availing financial support from the banks and also emphasized the importance of building good relation between the SHGs and banks.  

Rajuselie Lhousa, Program Manager (FI), NSRLM, while sharing on the concept and guiding tenets of NSRLM, said that the support of the banks is a vital component in bringing significant improvements in the lives of the rural populace as envisaged in the Mission. The members of the SHGs took active participation in the interactive session to clear various doubts and sought suggestions on how to ease transactions with the banks.
