Kohima, August 30 (MExN): Model Christian College, Kohima, organised the sixth edition of its Inter-Collegiate Talent Hunt, Phoenix 2026, on August 29 under the theme “Eclectic Effervescent Effulgent”, providing college students a platform to showcase their creativity, innovation and artistic expression.
The event featured a total cash prize of Rs 45,000, with more than 20 participants representing colleges from Kohima, Chümoukedima and Dimapur competing in various categories.
The programme began with an invocation by S P Francis, Managing Director, followed by a curtain-raiser speech by Linoka K Achumi, Miss Nagaland 2025, and the formal introduction of the judges.
The judging panel comprised Ruopfuzhano Whiso, Miss Universe India fourth runner-up, model, host and content creator; Sürhüveyi Tetseo (LRSM), Managing Director of De Operettas Music Institute, Kohima; and Noune Khamo, freelance performer, singer and educator.
The talent hunt featured performances in dance, solo, blindfold piano, band, poetry declamation and sign language interpretation.
Sidewalk band from St Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, secured the first position and won Rs 20,000. Tri-Ds from Kohima College finished second and received Rs 15,000, while Kilini P Zhimo of Model Christian College secured third place with a prize of Rs 10,000.
Arenchenla Walling, winner of the inaugural edition of Phoenix, also performed her original compositions, while The Gears 5.1, winner of Season 7 of the Inter-School Battle of the Bands, entertained the audience with a rock performance that had spectators singing along.
Phoenix 2026 concluded with a vote of thanks by Thethem Hangsing, Event Coordinator.
