Situation under control at Dhansiripar

Dimapur, June 20 (MExN): Dimapur district administration has taken stock of the heightened tension brewing between Khekiho village and Hazadisa village under Dhansaripar sub-division of Dimapur, Dhansiripar SDO (Civil), Anoop, IAS informed today. The situation is now under control. A joint meeting of both the villages was held and a ‘goodwill bond’ was signed by both sides. Anoop said the district administration has verified the disputed land and has collected evidence for further course of action. The officer is also making rounds to keep the situation under control. 20 policemen headed by an assistant sub-inspector have been deputed in the area for security, he informed. The two villages have been in dispute over land since 1992. Hazadisa village alleged that youths belonging to Kehikho village assaulted a village council member and went on a rampage destroying household materials worth lakhs of rupees on June 16. The village alleged that Khekiho village has been encroaching into its land since 1992. Several complaints written to the district administration and Member of Parliament, Khekiho Zhimomi -  the owner of Khekiho village- has gone unheeded, Hazadisa village has alleged.
