40th general conference of Rengma Students’ Union conducted
Kohima, February 1 (MExN): The 40th general conference of Rengma Students’ Union (RSU) under the theme ‘skill, self-reliance and sustainability’ was held from January 22 to 24 at Whenha Sports Complex Phenshünyu hosted by Phenshünyu Lowjvü Students’ Union.
The first day began with introductory session chaired by Khitilo Wanth, President Kandi Students’ Union. Awa Lorin, Deputy CEO exhorted the students as introductory guest. Invocation and introduction was done by Hyusinlo Keppen, Pastor Rumesinyu Baptist Church and Hhanchulo Magh, Speaker RSU respectively. Special number was presented by Shatilo Keppen and Andrew Kent, General Secretary RSU gave the report for the tenure 2017-2019.
The second day started with the monolith dedication chaired by Chegeseng Kath, Convenor, Organising Committee. Dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Rev Isac Kesen, Pastor, Phenshünyu Baptist Church.
Temjen Imna Along, Minister, Higher and Technical Education and Tribal Affairs in his address as special guest, reminded the students of who we are and how we should be. He spoke on the realities that is happening in our Naga society and that we should not be influenced or carried away by other foreign culture.
R Khing, Advisor, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services & Women Resources Development, speaking as the guest of honour, challenged the students to be more hardworking and sincere in their studies.
Bible reading and prayer were done by Khetimo Magh, Pastor Nsunyu Baptist Church, while the welcome speech was delivered by Peter Lorin, President PLSU. Welcome song was presented by ‘The Cadentia' and Kisheto Kent Rengma, President RSU delivered the presidential address. A speech on ‘what does a Student mean to me' was presented by Kechegi Kent of Baptist Higher Secondary School, Tseminyu.
Greeting was brought by Thanchilo Kath, General Secretary, Rengma Hoho while Kegwayhun Tep, Education Secretary NSF spoke on behalf of President, Naga Students’ Federation. Folk dance was presented by Kasha Daho Students’ Union.
During the talk show session, Neichute Doulo, CEO Entrepreneurs Associate spoke on the topic 'Entrepreneurship and our future'. Neilezo Tep, Deputy Secretary, P&AR spoke on ‘The scene behind successful competitors.’
In the theme session, Kvulo Lorin, Director, Tetso College Dimapur was the theme speaker. Invocatory prayer was done by Kenyüsen Himb, Pastor, Khenyu Baptist Church and special number was presented by Abel Seb. Short speeches were delivered by Yhunchulo Seb, Vice President, Rengma Selo Zi.
On the third day, folk song competition was h graced by Khinyi Woch, President, Rengma Public Organisation, Kohima. Yhunibu Keppen invoked God's blessing.
The valedictory programme was graced by G Lithrongla, ADC Kohima who spoke on importance of mother tongue. It was led by Dr Shasinlo Magh and invocation was done by Rüchünyhun Keppen, Asst Pastor Phenshünyu Baptist Church. Special number was presented by Singinye Kemp and Runole Tep. Oath taking for the new executive council was done by the Election Commission, while Mr. Tenyebinlo Himb, Vice President RSU gave the vote of thanks. It was followed by RSU Special Night where renowned Rengma artiste and different bands performed.
