M Yimok Phom speaking at the closing of the NEISSR Fest.
DIMAPUR, MAY 7 (MExN): The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) conducted a closing ceremony programme for NEISSR Fest on May 5 under the theme ‘Engage, Energize, Evolve’ at Peace Centre Hall, Chümoukedima.
The NEISSR fest is a student centric programme conducted for five days which started from May 1 till 5. It is organized by the Students’ Council for Social Change (SCSC) NEISSR in collaboration with the Peace Forum, Youth Forum, Community Forum and IQAC cell.
Dr Fr CP Anto, Principal NEISSR, in his welcome address welcomed and applauded M Yimok Phom and her team for working tirelessly for the empowerment of women in Nagaland. He also mentioned that the students of the institute are trained to be professional social doctors who will deal with the social disorders and social diseases of the society. So, he envisioned on the future prospects of working together collaboratively with NSRLM in empowering women and the society at large.
In addition, he mentioned the uniqueness of the institute where NEISSR is the first institute to introduce Peace and Conflict Transformation studies specialization and Youth development specialization as the second in the country.
Besides the two specializations, the institute also provides specialization in Community development along with two new specializations in Public health and Social Entrepreneurship.
The special guest for the day, M Yimok Phom, ADPM, NSLRM, DMMU, DRDA, Dimapur Nagaland, expressed her gratitude at being invited to be part of the closing ceremony. She spoke on the similarity about the mission and vision of NEISSR and their organization. She stated that the mission of social work students is not confined to table and chair, but to socialize and meet people in the field and to understand the problems in the society. She appealed the students to be a visionary student and a leader as it will give an additional knowledge, qualification and encouragement to oneself. Further, she encouraged the students to believe in themselves and leave a good footprint so that their legacy will live forever even if they graduate from the institute.
During the programme, winners for various activities conducted by the different forums such as storytelling, sketch competition, motivation talk, open competition, cosplay and indigenous games were felicitated with gifts and certificates.
The programme was moderated by Chumei B Phom, MSW 4th Semester and Suhutoli K Achumi, MSW 4th Semester graced the invocatory prayer. Later, S Limkhuingba, MSW 4th Semester proposed the vote of thanks followed by benediction by Fr Robin Thomas, Assistant Professor, NEISSR.
