Kohima, July 20 (MExN): The construction works of on-going the Soil Testing Laboratory at Directorate premises, Kohima under NEC funded project were going on smoothly in full swing and expected to be completed by the end of current year.
According to a DIPR report this was observed by the Joint Secretary to the Government of Nagaland and Officials of Soil and Water Conservation Department, Kohima during the inspection of the on-going construction of the Soil Testing Laboratory.
The Deputy Director, Z Amenba Ao, in-charge of NEC Scheme explained that the project works was badly affected due to the collapse of Sechu-Zubza Bridge and occurrence of landslides in the 4 lane road construction during the monsoon season of 2019 and followed by the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. The project was supposed to be completed during March 2020.
During the visit, the Joint Secretary encouraged all the officials involved to sincerely monitor and supervise the on-going works till its completion. He added that the lab once completed, will be the asset of the Department and particularly Nagaland as a whole. The lab will cater as data banks to the farmers and all the land user departments inside and outside the state, he added.
