After reading the letter to Naga people by Anthony Shimray, our heart goes out to the plight he is undergoing. Through this writing we show our solidarity to him.
Anthony Shimray, our senior leader of the NSCN was detained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and currently held in Tihar jail, Delhi, since last fourteen months.
We feel that there is no point of carrying on the peace talk when a member who had actually been taking part in such talk for a number of times, has been confined in jail over many alleged charges and that killing his time and preventing him from taking part in the talk.
For both the parties, Government of India and NSCN, no member of the ongoing peace process should be confined in jail. Otherwise the peace talk is only a farce/mockery. It’s not that he tried to derail the talk. In fact, he was an important figure who had initiated for the ongoing peace talk. It’s a pity that the peace talk is said to be continuing when an important member of one party is confined in jail.
We feel that all the right thinking Nagas should come out and demand the Government of India to come out clean on their sincerity and free Mr. Anthony Shimray unconditionally.
Dear Naga brethren let us not wait for the insincere and willful security forces of the Indian government to make a prey of each one of us in their own sweet time. If we don’t speak out now, there would be no one to speak out for you, when we are surely going to be eliminated one by one tactfully.
Today they have picked up Mr. Anthony Shimray and isolating him from the rest of the Nagas and made to rot in the Tihar jail. Tomorrow they will pick up another, and only God knows where you too will be isolated next.
Will we realize only when we face our own graves? That will be just too late, too foolish, too good for Government of India, while we remain as a unique but extinct tribe who had once faced the mighty India, for freedom.
‘FREEDOM’, we cried but we are chained and made to rot in prison. For crying ‘peace’ Mr. Anthony Shimray is chained for life in the treated Tihar Jail.
If a person who had initiated the peace talk is rewarded life sentence in prison than the bigger criminal is the Government Of India. All right thinking citizens of the world speaks out now and show your solidarity for peace and good.
