•-Apropos to article in post-mortem ‘I don’t care, a new trend’, in a leading local daily dated September 24, by Myanthung Ngullie (St. Edmunds College Shillong, it is very sad to see that the younger generation does not care. I don’t care punch line among Naga youth- is because our society has decayed. Too much of corruption at all levels has destroyed our values, particularly fragile youths.
Why many students are very patient and willing to wait for even one year for scholarships is because their parents give them excess money. The fact is that many children who are not qualified are also getting scholarship for eg., Ministers children, bureaucrats children, children of big contractors and other high ranking government servants. All their children have filled up their scholarship forms by cheating the authorities and saying that the parent’s income is very low. But we know that many students’ parents are very very rich because their parents have made a lot of illegal money. But still their children need the scholarship but they can wait as they have more than enough.
This is also cheating the govt. of India by the Nagaland govt. and the students and their parents who sign the scholarship forms. But this is Nagaland and we can do as we wish! After looting crores of money I do not understand why these corrupt people still want a few thousand rupees for their children and may be for such students some of genuine needy students are not getting proper scholarship!
