Special financial inclusion drive held in Bhandari town

Bhandari, February 8 (MExN): With the aim to bring about greater financial inclusion and awareness of various central government flagships programme and schemes in the Bhandari region, a special financial inclusion drive was organised for the community at the Bhandari Town Hall by the Block Mission Management Unit, Bhandari RD Block on February 4. The programme held under the aegis of the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission was participated by all the SHGs under the Bhandari block.


The resources persons highlighted the financial inclusion schemes, along with the various social welfare schemes, rolled out by the government for the benefit of the rural people.


Thungjanbemo Lotha, BDO Bhandari Block, stressed on the importance of MGNREGA and spoke about how job cards can be used to avail various benefits. He also reminded the gathering on how the mission aims to enhance the livelihood of the rural population by providing 100 days of wage employment in a year. 


Samuel Kithan, ADPM, NSRLM Wokha, also briefed the gathering about the numerous benefits that ensue once the VLO is formed and urged the members to work earnestly and give their best foot-forward for the benefit of the community.


Disahi Vadeo, BPM NHM, gave an overview of AB-PMJAY and other related schemes related to the medical department.  


Ralithung Lotha, Supervisor, Social Welfare Department, Bhandari block, exhorted on the importance of PMMVY and spoke about how the community can avail various maternity benefits; Chumben Yanthan, Branch manager - SBI Bhandari, spoke about the benefits of opening and linking back accounts with various social security schemes. 


The entire SBI Bhandari team assisted the SHGs in opening bank accounts post lunch.


The programme was kicked off with a poignant invocation and was chaired by Ajano T Tsanglao Area Coordinator livelihood, NSRLM .The Welcome address was delivered by BPM-NSRLM Bhandari Miss R Erenbeni Ngullie. 


Shanjos E Kikon Area Coordinator-FI NSRLM gave an overview of the NRLM and Chichanthung Shitiri, AREA Coordinator-SISD, Bhandari RD Block pronounced the vote of thanks. The official staffs of NSRLM, BMMU, Bhandari RD Block once again iterated to the main stakeholders to be forthcoming and avail the Government’s Flagships programme and schemes. 


The programme culminated with lunch and a mini-exhibition of organically produced vegetables and locally made items by the villagers.
