•-Its exhilarating to see much watershed over the projected special recruitment drive to 10 EAC post for 10 tribes with some forward tribal students’ union even protesting to do away with reservation in toto. But the irony is that the advance tribes think more than enough is given and the BT thinks it deserved much more. Scores of tribal students union & different areas students union exist but not a single union cared to question the recently conducted NPSC prelims 2011 result when it failed to ratify the wrong key answers published or the arbitrary mode of selection of 1:6 (UPSC 1:12) on behalf of the poor affected students with the exception of few concern individual voices, but are hell bend to dislodge at any cost a small benefit a weaker tribe is due.
The govt. is often rack & criticized for not doing enough to the less privileged tribes, yet when it tries to do something, its astounding to see the same people are totally unenthusiastic and did not feel its worth taking leave alone being grateful under a reason which sounds more stupid than logical. It can afford to cry over trivial things like frontier state which may never come in the next few hundred years yet could afford to say 6 EAC won’t bring any substantial change to their plight. Further it decline the same citing peaceful coexistence yet could harp over a thing like frontier state which may ripped the nagas apart creating more hatred & distrust in the process, a queer paradox indeed. No doubt many aspirants would be cursing their fate for the unwise decision of their organization.
But what is more shocking is the astute silence of the CSU, PSU, ZSU & RSU. Its surprising that they just don’t have the opinion or can’t come out with any stand even after much brouhaha which tantamount to severe irresponsibility as students representative. No wonder we have our share of immaturity and backwardness & may be thats one of the reasons why we are backward This ambivalent issue is contentious, nevertheless it should be noted that this special recruitment is just one way of shortening reservation since if the less represented tribes are recruited & get fairly represented under such drive, than reservation can end sooner than contemplated. But until there is no fair or equal representation, reservation is bound to continue. Hence either way its almost the same.
