•- With reference to the subject cited above, I would like to refer to the many observations by the public and political parties on this matter and give my personal views. That the DAN Government has taken a decision to provide Special Recruitment Drive for 10 EAC post to the backward and less privileged tribes, which has been objected to by some tribes.
In this connection the NPF party has strongly supported the Government's decision calling it - "to bring parity among the advanced tribes and less privileged tribes," and "to bridge the gap between the reserved and non-reserved sections." Well for that matter, it is understood that all tribes under Nagaland are declared as backward and less privileged and termed as "Schedule Tribe" by the Government of India under the Constitution of India and hence all ST are enjoying the benefits extended to such categories. So why do we have to break up the backward status again under the Schedule Tribe category? Isn't this enough? By this SRD, isn't the DAN government trying to bring more problems/divisions and polarization among the Naga tribes? As we have all seen during the past few weeks.
On one hand the NPF Secretary General, K. G. Kenye has stated that - Quote, "The entire exercise, the party said, was within the norms of the government as it is being consistent with the policy of the Government of India...." Unquote. Such immature statement by him is not going to do any good at this juncture. Has the Government of India done any SRD for the Nagas or for that matter for the North-Eastern states to bring parity for such post under the IAS, IPS, IFS etc. till date through the UPSC? If I am mistaken, please correct me.
In view of the above, I urge the DAN Government to put a full stop to this SRD and cancel the Review Committee set up by them as this is against the Government of India policy and at the same time it will bring divisions and polarization among the already fractured Naga society.
