SRCW Nagaland celebrates Girl Child Month

Kohima, October 26 (MExN): Celebrating the Girl Child Month, the State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW) Nagaland along with 181-Women Helpline, District Level Centre for Women (MSK) and Sakhi- One Stop Centre under the initiative of the Nagaland State Social Welfare Board (NSSWB) organized programmes at Youth Mission Children Home, Seikhazou, Eden Garden Children’s Home, Khuzama and T. Khel Government Middle School from October 11 to 26.


Both care giver homes and the institution were made to compete through art- painting and drawing competition based on the theme, “Little girls with dreams become women with vision.” Children from classes 2- 10 took part in the competition and prizes were distributed as well.  The team engaged the students in recreational activities. The staff contributed bags of rice and other eatable items to the care giver homes as gesture of love and care.
Chairperson of the programmes highlighted on the significance of the International Girl Child Month campaign and the objectives of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Scheme. Topics on Adolescent Well-being, Career Guidance, Personal Health and Menstrual Hygiene, Good Touch, Bad Touch and Anti- Bullying Act were shared by the Women Helpline and MSK team. 


The resource persons also sensitized the children on the importance and services provided by the 181- Women Helpline and CHILDLINE 1098. The deans from both the care giver homes and the institution as well warmly welcomed the team by looking forward for more programmes to be organized and collaboration in the coming days.
